Emma C Tabor

I have always been fascinated by patterns, both in from nature and man-made ones. They form visual languages that challenge our perceptions.  Every individual sees something different in them depending on their personal and cultural backgrounds.  My work involves exploring these interpretations by playing with pattern in different ways.

My work is rooted in drawing using ink or pencil.  I work in series, following procedural processes that result in many pieces, so while working on similar patterns, each final piece is unique.  They are not intended to represent any actual object but a physical process of exploration in the realm of pattern.   I also explore ideas more deeply in techniques such as screen printing and digital prints
