I love all art, but have always been moved by abstract art in a way I find hard to explain. I am intrigued and inspired by the many opportunities it offers for interpretation. I feel an emotional response to the simplest of forms made by many artists, but the works of Joseph Albers and Carmen Herrera have been especially influential. This has resulted in the decision to develop my practice in geometric abstraction, which has been an exhilarating journey. Put simply, I create canvases in acrylics with a colourful aesthetic, which also have an underlying narrative. This can be a socio/political subtext or a personal story. My reaction to the pandemic has been to make light hearted work based on song titles.
